HC Deb 20 June 1963 vol 679 c642
Q5. Mr. Lipton

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of widespread opinion that the time is not opportune, he will ask President Kennedy to defer his visit to this country for the time being.

The Prime Minister

No, Sir.

Mr. Lipton

If the visit is still on, does not the Prime Minister think that the President should be given the opportunity of exchanging views with a new Prime Minister and not a Prime Minister who is under notice to quit and whose political status at home and abroad is inevitably impaired?

The Prime Minister

The hon. Gentleman has made his point in a way which is characteristic of him, with his usual courtesy, and I leave it at that.
