HC Deb 17 June 1963 vol 679 cc32-3
Mr. Ellis Smith (by Private Notice)

asked the Minister of Power whether he will make a statement about the colliery explosion which occurred in the Glebe Colliery, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent.

The Minister of Power (Mr. Richard Wood)

I am having the cause of the accident investigated, and I would like to express my deep sympathy to the families and friends of the three men who were killed.

Mr. Ellis Smith

May I place on record the very generous service which we received from Mr. Brennan, of the Home Office, on Saturday afternoon? Will the Minister undertake to do all he can to expedite the arrangements that are being made for the relatives of the men to come over from Yugoslavia so that they can attend the funeral in the morning? Will he also give an undertaking that his welfare officers will give the best possible attention to the needs of the relatives?

Mr. Wood

I will certainly look into the points which the hon. Gentleman has mentioned.
