asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science what has been the highest power reached by the advanced gas-cooled reactor at Winscale.

109 megawatts thermal and 36.5 megawatts electrical.

I welcome this information. May I ask my hon. Friend if he can state how this compares with the output of an equivalent reactor anywhere else in the world?

The advanced gas-cooled reactor is really unique, but I think it is worth while drawing my hon. Friend's attention to the fact that both these figures are in excess of the original design output.
