HC Deb 29 July 1963 vol 682 c25
32. Mr. Edelman

asked the Minister of Aviation what further approaches he proposes to make to the Aviation Minister of the Republic of Ireland in support of a Coventry-Dublin air service.

Mr. J. Amery

We are expecting further talks with the civil aviation authorities of the Republic of Ireland on a number of air service matters. These may afford us an opportunity to try and persuade them to reconsider their decision against this service.

Mr. Edelman

I appreciate what the Minister has already done, but when he talks to the Irish Minister of Transport will he direct his attention to the inconvenience which the Irish residents of Coventry suffer by having to go to Birmingham when they want to return home? Will the right hon. Gentleman emphasise that point when he asks the Irish Minister to re-examine the whole matter?

Mr. Amery

The hon. Member's supplementary question will be helpful in this direction.
