31. Mr. Goodhart

asked the President of the Board of Trade when he now expects to be able to reach a decision about the support that his Department will give to the erection of a national industrial exhibition centre on the Crystal Palace site.

When I have had an opportunity to consider whatever conclusions may be reached by the industrial interests concerned on how to make their capital contribution to the cost of the project.

Mr. Goodhart

Can my right hon. Friend say whether it is probable that a decision on this most important scheme will be reached before the end of the year?

Mr. Erroll

It is not possible for me to give an answer to that question because discussions are continuing between the Federation of British Industries and the London County Council. I cannot, therefore, say how long those discussions will take.
