HC Deb 30 January 1963 vol 670 c933
37. Mr. Dugdale

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty why tit has been decided to scrap the cruiser H.M.S. "Belfast".

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

The right hon. Gentleman is mistaken. H.M.S. "Belfast" is not being scrapped but is to be placed in reserve and will, I hope, remain available for a number of years for service with the Royal Navy.

Mr. Dugdale

I am very glad that the hon. Gentleman has made this statement which publicly contradicts the statement in The Times.

Mr. Orr-Ewing

Like my right hon. Friend the Minister of Defence, I am not responsible for all that appears in The Times.
