asked the Minister of Health if he will issue a standard form and envelope for general practitioners to use in referring patients for hospital treatment.

Mr. Braine

A sub-committee of the Standing Medical Advisory Committee is considering this.

Mr. Pavitt

Will the Minister give this urgent attention? Where it has been tried it has proved a considerable saving to general practitioners, hospitals and patients. Will he expedite the work of the sub-committee so that this useful measure can come into operation at an early date?

Mr. Braine

I note what the hon. Gentleman says, and I am glad to be able to say that the sub-committee expects to report shortly.
