§ The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (Mr. Iain Macleod)I beg to move,
That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, praying that Her Majesty will give directions that there be presented on behalf of this House, a bookcase containing Parliamentary and Constitutional reference books, together with a gavel, to the House of Representatives of Cyprus and assuring Her Majesty that this House will make good the expenses attending the same.This Motion is in accordance with long tradition by which we from this House send gifts to the Parliaments of countries that become independent within the Commonwealth. The usual arrangements have been made whereby it is possible for the House to inspect these gifts, and I understand that Mr. Speaker will be making the appropriate arrangements for the presentation. It only remains for me to add that this gift goes from the House of Commons with our best wishes to the House of Representatives of Cyprus.
