§ 3.58 p.m.
§ Mr. Anthony Royle (Richmond, Surrey)I am grateful to you, Mr. Speaker, for selecting my subject for debate. Owing to the many complaints which I have received, I was intending to press the Postmaster-General for a departmental inquiry into various aspects of the postal and telephone services in Richmond and Barnes, However, I have now received an assurance that the Postmaster-General will carry 889 out my request immediately. I therefore do not feel that I should delay the House with a detailed speech this afternoon.
I know that my hon. Friend the Member for the Isle of Ely (Sir H. Legge-Bourke) and my right hon. and learned Friend the Member for Huntingdonshire (Mr. Renton) wish to raise an urgent matter before the House rises for the Summer Recess.
I must emphasise that if I am not satisfied with the inquiry which the Postmaster-General intends to carry out, I give notice that I will endeavour to raise the matter when we return to Westminster in the autumn.
