§ Mr. BrockwayMr. Speaker, I rise to present a Petition to the House signed by the Mayor of Slough, the Deputy Mayor, many councillors, and 3,709 residents, which is a rather remarkable figure, because this is a localised issue. After the appropriate introduction to the Petition, the operative clause reads as follows:
- That danger to the life and limb of persons crossing the Farnham Road, in the vicinity of Montrose Avenue, upon their lawful occasions, particularly children and aged persons, has increased alarmingly in the last two years and is likely to continue increasing by reason of the growing volume of motor traffic.
- That there have been two deaths in that place during the first three months of 1963, to the distress and suffering of the families of the deceased; and acutely growing anxiety to their neighbours.
- That the application by the Slough Borough Council for the installation of a fully-controlled pedestrian crossing at the junction of Farnham Road and Montrose Avenue has not received Ministerial sanction.
- Wherefore, your petitioners pray that the said application he reconsidered and that sanction be given forthwith; to our relief.
- And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
§ To lie upon the Table.
