§ 18. Mr. Pavittasked the Minister of Health what estimate has been made of the total amount received by general practitioners in the National Health Service from private practice income for each year since January, 1960; and what steps he proposes to take to secure a firm estimate on this matter for the next three years.
§ Mr. BraineNone. Sir.
§ Mr. PavittDoes the Minister recall that when the £2 million was removed from the general practitioners' pool the Royal Commission advised that there should be a review of the situation in case of an increase? Is he aware that the B.M.A. estimate that the figure is nearer £6 million? If this is increasing, should not the Minister do something about it?
§ Mr. BraineMy right hon. Friend has no reason to think that the alteration in private earnings since 1960 has been substantial in the sense indicated in the appropriate paragraph in the Royal Commission Report. The Review Body says that it agrees with this view.
