HC Deb 30 May 1962 vol 660 cc1335-6
11. Mr. A. Royle

asked the Secretary of State for War when the Women's Royal Army Corps camp in Richmond Park will be closed; and on what date the site will be cleared.

Mr. Ramsden

I expect that the W.R.A.C. camp in Richmond Park will be closed and the site cleared by late autumn 1964.

Mr. Royle

Is my hon. Friend aware that his reply will be well received by the many users of this park? Can he say whether there is any chance of speeding up this programme?

Mr. Ramsden

I realise the very great concern there has been on the part of my hon. Friend's constituents, and I am glad that, so far as that is concerned, the end of the road is in sight. We cannot close this camp until the barracks at Mill Hill are completed, and that will not be, I am afraid, earlier than the date I have indicated.
