§ Q4. Mr. Mayhewasked the Prime Minister if he will now appoint a Minister of Cabinet rank to co-ordinate the Government's information services.
§ The Prime MinisterI would refer the hon. Member to the Answer which I gave him on 13th February.
§ Mr. MayhewIs the Prime Minister aware that there are now four Ministers, namely, the Minister of Housing and Local Government, the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, the Secretary for Technical Co-operation, and the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, who are responsible for the co-ordination of information services? Can he say why this is and whether it is one reason for the cut in our expenditure overseas this year?
§ The Prime MinisterIt seems a very reasonable division. The Secretary for Technical Co-operation deals with foreign overseas information services and the other Ministers with home services. There is no doubt that questions of co-ordination sometimes introduce rather delicate problems.
