§ 31. Mrs. Braddockasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many objections he has received to the placing of a fish market on a previous housing site in the central area of Liverpool, Victoria Square; and what action he intends to take in the matter.
§ Mr. RipponMy right hon. Friend has received eighteen objections signed by a total of over 2,000 people. He has decided to hold a public local inquiry.
§ Mrs. BraddockIs the Parliamentary Secretary aware that people in the area will be very pleased indeed to attend the inquiry and to show their disgust at the attitude adopted by the Liverpool Corporation in handing over land, which was used for housing, on which to put a fish market in the midst of a housing area?
§ Mr. RipponI cannot anticipate the result of the inquiry, and I do not think that it should be prejudged in the way that the hon. Lady has done.
