HC Deb 14 March 1962 vol 655 c1291
3. Commander Donaldson

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty what arrangements were made for the disposal of the Naval Armament Depot at Charlesfield in Roxburghshire; what sum of money was obtained for the property; if he is satisfied that proper arrangements for those who became redundant have been made; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

The property was advertised in the Press. The built-up area was sold as a unit. Much of the remainder was resold to the representatives of former owners as agricultural land. The Roxburgh County Council acquired the small site of the water supply system.

It is contrary to Government practice to disclose prices paid for transactions of this nature.

With regard to the third part of the Question the answer is "Yes".
