Mr. Speaker, I beg to ask leave to present a Petition, signed by no fewer than 810,000 old-age pensioners and others in Great Britain. This Petition, signed by such a large number of our citizens, expresses a widespread and growing belief that the increase in prescription charges is a danger to the health of the people, particularly the old-age pensioners.

The Petition sheweth That the increased charges for prescriptions will mean a deterioration in the health of the nation inasmuch as if these charges are not abolished pensioners and others will not be in a position to pay for prescriptions and will, therefore, not see the doctor when it is necessary. Wherefore your humble Petitioners ask that all prescription charges shall be abolished forthwith. And your Petitioners, as in duty bound will ever pray, etc.
