23. Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are being taken to encourage the development of British engines for rotary type lawn mowers.
§ Mr. N. MacphersonNone by the Government, Sir.
Mr. Gresham CookeIs my hon. Friend aware that when I went to the Chelsea Flower Show I was amazed to find that half of the British rotary lawn movers have American engines? What is the Board of Trade doing to help develop a British engine for these lawn mowers?
§ Mr. MacphersonThis is primarily a matter for the industry itself to consider, but the Board of Trade will be quite willing to look into the question and to see the extent of the dependence on imported materials, if my hon. Friend wishes.
