§ 23. Mr. Parkerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what sums of money were spent in the period 1945–51, and since 1951, on the restoration and repair of York Terrace West, York Gate West, Clarence Terrace and Sussex Place, Regent's Park.:
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydMost of this work has been done by lessees and information on their expenditure is not available to the Crown Estate Commissioners.
§ Mr. ParkerIs it not wasteful first to spend a lot of money on restoring these buildings and then to demolish them?
§ Mr. LloydThe work was necessary so that they could be used as they have been used in the last seventeen years for the purposes which the hon. Member 195 knows. On the question of the proposal to demolish them, the Crown Estate Commissioners are about to make a statement and I think that we had better await it before making further comment.
