asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs when he will be able to announce his decision regarding the proposed development at Trosley Towers. Kent.

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he is yet in a position to give his decision with regard to proposed developments at Trosley Towers.

So do I. It is now nine months since the inquiry. Why has it taken so long to get a decision on this grave matter?

Sir K. Joseph

My hon. Friend will appreciate that this raises substantial issues and that we have to make sure that we get the decision right.

Mr. Ede

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this matter has been outstanding for a very long time, and that the preservation of the skyline of the North Downs is a matter which should be decided very quickly?

Yes, Sir, but as the right hon. Gentleman knows there are seldom situations which drag on for so many years which are absolutely simple, and we have had to study the considerations here very carefully.
