§ 35. Mr. Randallasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs when he proposes to give a decision concerning the Askew Road and St. Cuthbert's Road (No. 1) compulsory purchase order.
§ Mr. RipponMy right hon. Friend expects to do so before the end of the month. He will send the hon. Member a copy of the decision letter.
§ Mr. RandallI thank the hon. Gentleman for that reply. Will he inform his right hon. Friend that unless the order is confirmed by 31st July, which is the date of his visit to Gateshead, while I am sure that the Minister will get a warm reception at Gateshead, if the order is not confirmed his reception may not necessarily be a cordial one?
§ Mr. RipponI think that the order will be confirmed. I am sure that the hon. Member will appreciate the difficulty of dealing with an order of this kind which affected 500 properties and aroused 27 objections. We have dealt with it as speedily as possible.
