HC Deb 10 July 1962 vol 662 c1147
Q4. Sir D. Robertson

asked the Prime Minister what arrangements he has made to meet the deputations from the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, the Scottish Board for Industry and the Scottish Trades Union Congress; and which Ministers will be present.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I have been asked to reply.

The Scottish Council (Development and Industry), of which the Scottish Trades Union Congress is a constituent member and on which the Scottish Board for Industry is represented, asked my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland to receive a deputation. My right hon. Friend naturally agreed to this request and a meeting has been arranged for the 12th of July. My hon. Friends the Parliamentary Secretary, Board of Trade, who has already had a meeting with the Scottish Board for Industry on the 22nd of June, and the Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Labour, will also be present.

Mr. Hoy

In view of the arrangements for this meeting, can the right hon. Gentleman tell us if the Government will have any new proposals for dealing with this problem?

Mr. Butler

That goes further than the Question on the Order Paper. I think the meeting had better take place first.
