HC Deb 15 February 1962 vol 653 cc1513-4
Q10. Mr. Lipton

asked the Prime Minister what arrangements he is making for the visit to Bonn of Her Majesty the Queen.

The Prime Minister

None, Sir.

Mr. Lipton

Is the Prime Minister aware that his announcement will be heard with relief by many of Her Majesty's subjects, who for good reason would view with serious misgiving any such visit in present circumstances?

The Prime Minister

The hon. Member must draw what deductions he feels fit. There are, of course, no fixed rules as to the length of time which should elapse between a State visit and a return visit. Her Majesty's programme, both with foreign visits and with Commonwealth visits, is, in my view, as heavy as she ought to be asked to bear.
