§ 15. Mr. Tilneyasked the Minister of Power whether he will give a general direction to the Electricity Council that area boards should speed up the erection of sub-stations in areas that have recently suffered from electricity power cuts or failures.
§ Mr. WoodI am satisfied that the area boards are building these sub-stations as quickly as they can.
§ Mr. TilneyWill my right hon. Friend confirm that these sub-stations cost only between £6,000 and £9,000, and that much of this money could be provided from savings on advertisements? Is he aware that there is a general feeling in some areas that the area boards are rather complacent in this way?
§ Mr. WoodI do not think that the area board in the area which my hon. Friend represents is complacent, and the chairman of the council recently gave an interview expressing concern about this matter, saying that they were pushing on with the building of sub-stations as quickly as they possibly could.
