§ 22. Mr. Burdenasked the Minister of Aviation what steps he intends taking in the interests of safety to check the competence of light aircraft instructors and trainees of aircraft with an all-up weight of less than 5,000 lb., in view of the high accident rate of this category of aircraft disclosed in CAP 176 entitled "A Survey of the Accidents to Aircraft of the United Kingdom" in the year ended 31st December 1960, a copy of which has been sent to him by the hon. Member for Gillingham.
§ Mr. WoodhouseDiscussions are proceeding with the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators, which exercises control on my behalf over flying instructors, with the object of ensuring that a high standard of instruction is maintained. My right hon. Friend intends to make an announcement shortly.
