HC Deb 07 February 1962 vol 653 c397
3. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has now considered the resolutions, copies of which have been sent to him by the hon. and learned Member for Aberdeen, North, passed at the meetings held in Glasgow on 23rd November, 1961, and in Edinburgh on 24th November, 1961, of the Association of Scientific Workers concerning the salary agreements recently negotiated by the Whitley Council on behalf of the medical laboratory technicians of Scotland; and if he will now take immediate steps to implement these agreements.

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. John Maclay)

I have seen these resolutions. The agreed salaries will operate from 1st April.

Mr. Hughes

Does not the Secretary of State realise that failure to honour these resolutions is shockingly inconsistent with the orderly economic system built up in the country over generations? Will he look into the matter with a view to seeing that these agreements properly arrived at are duly honoured by the Government?

Mr. Maclay

I do not think that I can add to my original Answer.
