§ 68. Mr. George Craddockasked the Minister of Labour if he will state the percentage of the insured population who were wholly unemployed at the latest convenient date for men and women, boys and girls, respectively, in the Bradford district; what were the corresponding figures for those on part-time; and how these figures compare with those at the same date last year.
§ Mr. WhitelawPercentage rates of unemployment are available only for males and females. At 12th November, 2.8 per cent. of males and 0.6 per cent. of females were wholly unemployed in Bradford and Shipley, and 0.3 per cent. of males and 0.2 per cent. of females were temporarily stopped. Corresponding percentage rates among wholly unemployed workers at 13th November, 1961, were: males 1.6 per cent. and females 0.3 per cent.; the numbers temporarily stopped were negligible.
§ Mr. CraddockWill the Parliamentary Secretary please take particular note of the point in the Question in relation to boys and girls, because unemployment and the lack of facilities for young people are growing in the city?
§ Mr. WhitelawI appreciate what the hon. Gentleman says, but at the same time he would probably agree that considerable progress has been made in finding jobs for the school-leavers in the area.
