§ 26. Mr. Smallasked the Minister of Labour what is the number of employees, at the latest available date, engaged in manufacture and repair in the aircraft industry; and what proportion of those employees is located in Scotland.
§ Mr. HareIn mid-1961 the number employed in Great Britain was 297,000, of whom 5 per cent. were employed in Scotland.
§ Mr. SmallDoes the Minister recognise that these figures are disappointing? Scotland never gets its share of the manufacturing element in the aircraft industry. Surely some easement of the position could be brought about by providing that some of the repair work was done in Scotland.
§ Mr. HareI will certainly see that the hon. Member's suggestion is brought to the attention of my right hon. Friend.
