asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has yet appointed the Chairman to the Kenya Land Board; and when he will take up his duties.

Mr. Sandys

I have appointed General Sir Geoffrey Bourne to be Chairman-Designate of the Kenya Land Board. He will take up his duties early in the New Year.

Mr. Turton

Can my right hon. Friend say what experience in African land this distinguished soldier possesses and whether he will be assisted in his chairmanship by anyone who has skilled knowledge in dealing with land in Africa?

Mr. Sandys

One of the great difficulties has been to find somebody who was not mixed up with African affairs.
