HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 c763
1. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if Her Majesty's Government will now fully implement the Wolfenden Committee's Report; what progress has been made; and if he now intends to set up a National Sports Development Council.

The Chief Secretary to the Treasury (Mr. John Boyd-Carpenter)

I have nothing to add at present to the statement made on 8th May.

Mr. Ellis Smith

While I admit that this Question is put down rather early in view of the new appointments which have been made at the Treasury, will the Chief Secretary ask his right hon. Friend to give his early attention to this matter?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

We will certainly pay attention to this and, in the meanwhile—as the hon. Members knows —there is the statement, to which I have referred, about additional financial provision.
