HC Deb 12 April 1962 vol 657 cc1479-80
14. Mr. Tilney

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many ex- members of the Colonial Service or Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service are receiving pensions from the Government of Uganda; and how many of these are receiving increases less than those received under the Pensions (Increase) Act. 1959 of the United Kingdom.

The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Reginald Maudling)

As my information is incomplete, I have asked the Government of Uganda for further information, and will write to my hon. Friend as soon as I have it.

Mr. Tilney

Would my right hon. Friend bear in mind that the Uganda Government last year received 8.4 million dollars, and will receive more in pounds this year in the form of aid or loans; and that it is the poorer end of the pensioner scale that really requires attention?
