§ 29. Dr. A. Thompsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether in view of the recent reports on smoking and lung cancer, he will call a conference of local health authorities with a view to recommending a ban on smoking in places of public entertainment.
§ Mr. GalbraithWider restriction of smoking in public places was one of the recommendations in the recent Report from the Royal College of Physicians which are now under consideration by the Government.
§ Mr. WoodburnWill the hon. Gentleman call the attention of his colleagues to the well-known fact that example is better than precept? If the Government as a whole announced to the public that they were stopping smoking, does he not think that that might have a great effect on the country?
