HC Deb 17 October 1961 vol 646 c2
Mr. J. Rodgers

I beg to present an humble Petition from nearly 2,500 people living in the Westerham, Brasted and Chevening area of the Sevenoaks constituency.

The Petition shows that the proposal of the British Transport Commission to close the Dunton Green-Westerham railway will cause hardship and extra expense to people who travel daily to their work or to school, and aggravate the already overcrowded and dangerous condition of roads A.25 and A.21.

Wherefore your Petitioners pray That the Minister of Transport should rescind his direction to the British Transport Commission that the railway be closed and that he should direct them to maintain it in accordance with the recommendation of the Central Transport Consultative Committee. And your Petitioners, as in duty hound, will ever pray.

To lie upon the Table.
