§ 3. Mr. Boydenasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what equipment and rolling stock will be provided by the British Transport Commission for the Swaziland railway scheme.
§ Mr. BraineNone, Sir.
§ Mr. BoydenWould it not be fitting to amend the Transport Bill which is to come before the House so that the Transport Commission can supply materials to Swaziland, both for the convenience of Swaziland and this country?
§ Mr. BraineThat is not a question for me or my right hon. Friend. It should be addressed to the appropriate Minister.
§ Mr. EmeryWhat equipment is wanted by this railway? When is it envisaged that the equipment required can be delivered, and how much is really necessary?
§ Mr. BrainePermanent way for about 140 miles of track will be required, about 400 general purpose wagons, and a variety of equipment including signalling equipment. Tenders for equipment and rolling stock for the railway will be called for as soon as practicable and I hope that British suppliers will tender.
