§ The Minister of Transport (Mr. Ernest Marples)Yes, Sir. I have reviewed this experiment and consulted both the Metropolitan Police and the local 977 authorities concerned. We are all agreed that it was valuable, and I propose to try a further experiment, with a number of improvements based on experience. It will start on 27th November and continue over the Christmas period. It should assist the heavy Christmas traffic. It will also help me, in deciding on longer-term arrangements for this area, to see how this scheme stands up to so severe a test.
I am placing in the Library copies of a plan and a Press notice giving some further details of the new experiment.
