Resolved, That, for the purpose of any Act of the present Session to enable the Minister of Transport to make advances to Cunard White Star Limited in connection with the construction of a large vessel for the North Atlantic shipping trade, it is expedient to authorise—

  1. (a) the provisions, either wholly out of the Consolidated Fund or in part out of the Consolidated Fund and in part out of money provided by Parliament, of sums not exceeding eighteen million pounds to be advanced to the said company either wholly as loans, or partly as loans and partly as grants;
  2. (b) the issue out of the Consolidated Fund of sums payable under any provision of the said Act authorising the Minister of Transport to enter into any agreement with the said company concerning the insurance of any risks;
  3. (c) the borrowing of money for the purposes of the said Act in any manner authorised under the National Loans Act, 1939;
  4. (d) the payment into the Exchequer of any sums falling to be so paid by virtue of the said Act of the present Session and their re-issue out of the Consolidated Fund.—[Mr. Marples.]
