Mr. Bowden

May I make a short personal statement, Mr. Speaker?

In the Votes and Proceedings for yesterday's proceedings in the House, in Division No. 116 against the Army Estimates, in which three hon. Members took part, it is recorded that I acted as a Teller with the hon. Member for South Ayrshire (Mr. Emrys Hughes). This, it will be appreciated, has caused me a great deal of embarrassment. I should be glad, therefore, if the record could be corrected.

I regret the mistake and any inconvenience caused to either of the hon. Members concerned. It will be corrected.

On a point of order. May I point out that I was present in that Division and wish to confirm the view of the hon. Member for Leicester, South-West (Mr. Bowden) that he was not in the Division Lobby and was not present in any way.

The hon. Member need not trouble. My recollection of the Tellers is quite clear.

Further to that point of order. I want to be assured, Sir, that no disciplinary action will be taken against the unfortunate printer.
