§ 33. Mr. Scott-Hopkinsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many applications he received for ploughing-up grants in the county 1740 of Cornwall during the years 1959–60 and 1960–61; how many were paid; and what was the total sum so disbursed.
Mr. VaneThe current ploughing grant scheme does not end until 31st May, but during the calendar year 1960 £324,800 was paid out on 7,029 claims. For 1959 the figures were £287,300 and 7,018. I regret that the number of applications received is not readily available but it will not differ greatly from the number of claims on which payment was made.
