HC Deb 08 March 1961 vol 636 cc442-3
11. Sir N. Hulbert

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty if he will circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT the results of the recent tests of survival rafts carried out by the Royal Navy; and what type of raft has been adopted as standard equipment in Her Majesty's ships.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

The analysis of the report of the trial is not yet complete. When it is, I will write to the hon. Gentleman. Since 1955, the 8-man circular and 20-man oval inflatable life-rafts, incorporating one buoyancy tube, have been standard equipment in H.M. Ships. The 20-man raft behaved satisfactorily in the trial.
