HC Deb 31 July 1961 vol 645 c908
28. Mrs. White

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the County Medical Officer of Flintshire has been informed that he cannot be supplied with a copy of the proposals for hospital reorganisation in his area, although he normally attends the Clwyd and Deeside Hospital Management Committee in an advisory capacity; and what arrangements are proposed for consultation with local authorities before plans for hospital reorganisation in Wales are finalised.

Mr. Powell

Yes, Sir. I would refer the hon. Lady to the statement I made in the debate on 11th July.

Mrs. White

Is the Minister aware that there is considerable disquiet in Wales that the proposals for hospital reorganisation are going ahead apparently with no consultation with the elected representatives at either national or local level?

Mr. Powell

Yes. I have made it clear that I expect the Welsh part, as indeed the other parts, of the national plan to be the subject of intensive public discussion, and no decisions which have not already been taken will be prejudged by the plan when it appears.
