HC Deb 27 February 1961 vol 635 c1192
48. Sir B. Janner

asked the Minister of Health why it is proposed that the cost of milk supplied to mothers and babies should be raised from 4d. to 6d. in the near future; and if he will give further consideration to the position, in view of the hardship entailed to those who now benefit.

Miss Pitt

No such proposal has been made.

Sir B. Janner

Is the hon. Lady saying that there is no proposal of this nature in contemplation? If it should arise, will she see to it that it will not be accepted by her anyhow?

Miss Pitt

The hon. Gentleman's question related to a present proposal. There is no such proposal.

Mr. K. Robinson

Will the hon. Lady give an assurance that there is no intention in the foreseeable future of putting up the price of welfare milk to the consumer?

Miss Pitt

No, Sir. That is a hypothetical question.
