HC Deb 14 February 1961 vol 634 c1227
23. Mr. Small

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the nature of the representations he has received from local authorities in Scotland about the continued development of hydro-electricity in Scotland.

Mr. Maclay

None, Sir, although last autumn two local authorities wrote to me urging that there should be no amalgamation of the two Scottish Electricity Boards.

Mr. Small

Does not the Secretary of State appreciate that many members of local authorities are very concerned about the number of private organisations, such as Aims of Industry, that are continually attacking the work of the Hydro-Electric Board?

Mr. Maclay

I am very well aware of many of the things which are written in the Press, which I read very carefully.
