§ 28. Mr. W. R. Williamsasked the Postmaster-General whether the figures of expected growth of the telephone service set out in paragraph 14 of the White Paper on Post Office Capital Investment, 1960–61, Command Paper No. 973, still represent Post Office expectations; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BevinsThe Post Office capital allocation for 1960–61 has been increased by £2 million since the White Paper was published. I now expect to improve on the forecast in paragraph 14 of the White Paper. I hope that the number of new connections will be 465,000.
