§ 35. Dr. Dickson Mabonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will consider taking steps to lengthen the two-month period for appeal against 204 revaluation assessments issued on or before 31st May, 1961, in view of the large amount of work involved.
§ Mr. MaclayI am prepared to consider this question when further information is available about the probable volume of appeals.
§ Dr. MabonIn reconsidering this matter, I hope that the right hon. Gentleman will take into account the representations being made by various professional bodies, including the chartered surveyors, which are pointing out publicly, and I hope to him privately, that there will be a volume of appeal here over ground which is difficult for the ordinary citizen to participate in?
§ Mr. MaclayI will watch this situation very carefully as soon as the information becomes available on which to base decisions.
§ Mr. McInnesWill the Secretary of State consult the Scottish Valuation Advisory Council?
§ Mr. MaclayYes. I should be bound to consult the Council before I took any action
