HC Deb 06 February 1961 vol 634 cc18-9
25. Mr. Rankin

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many tigers were permitted to be brought into the United Kingdom under orders made by Her Majesty's Government in 1959 and 1960.

Mr. Vane

Licences were issued under the Diseases of Animals legislation for the importation of twenty-seven tigers into Great Britain in 1959 and three in 1960.

Mr. Rankin

Are any of these tigers to be shot by members of the Royal Family?

Mr. Speaker

Order. That supplementary question is out of order.

Mr. Nabarro

A complete flop.

Mr. Rankin

On a point of order. Is it not the case, Mr. Speaker, that it has already been determined and accepted by a Government of which the right hon. Member for Woodford (Sir W. Churchill) was Prime Minister that questions affecting the Royal Family were quite in order in this House?

Mr. Speaker

I take my guidance from page 358 of the current edition of Erskine May.
