HC Deb 21 December 1961 vol 651 cc1562-3
42. Mrs. Butler

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to receive the report of the Royal Commission on the Police.

Mr. Renton

I understand that the Royal Commission hopes to present its final report next spring.

Mrs. Butler

Can the Minister of State say whether the Royal Commission has any intention of producing an interim report on police behaviour in Trafalgar Square on 17th September? If so, can he say when it is likely to be published?

Mr. Renton

As my right hon. Friend informed the House on 9th November, arrangements have been made for the experience gained in the handling of these cases to be put before the Royal Commission, but it is for the Royal Commission to decide whether or not to submit an interim report.
