HC Deb 18 December 1961 vol 651 cc939-40
Mr. Warbey

On a point of order, Mr. Speaker. You gave a Ruling just now which I should be grateful if you would be kind enough to clarify, or, perhaps, with respect, consider again at some other time. I understood you to rule that it was not in order during Question Time to quote verbatim from official documents. As this would be a rather severe limitation, I wonder whether that could be reconsidered, and whether you would perhaps give us another Ruling on it after you have given it further consideration?

Mr. Speaker

The whole process of quoting verbatim is out of order in Questions. I have not the exact proposition at the moment, but it is in the region of page 360 of Erskine May.
