§ 13. Mr. Rossasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what effect he estimates will result in respect of the distribution of the Exchequer equalisation grant from the revaluation of property in Scotland.
§ Mr. MaclayI hope to be able to issue first estimates of the equalisation grant for 1961–62 to local authorities by the middle of May. I am afraid that I cannot make any statement meanwhile.
§ Mr. RossSurely the Secretary of State should be in a position to make an interim assessment of how local authorities will be affected. He will appreciate that this is an important matter from the point of view of municipal treasurers.
§ Mr. MaclayI realise the importance of it. I have studied the matter, but I think that we must await the figures to which I have referred.
