§ 8. Mr. Swinglerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he has considered the letter dated 13th December, 1960, sent to him by the Electrical Association for Women about the need to ease the financial restrictions on the purchase of labour-saving domestic appliances; and if he will now take steps to meet this need.
§ Mr. BarberMy right hon. and learned Friend has considered and 464 replied to the letter. I cannot add to what was said in the reply.
§ Mr. SwinglerMay I take it from that Answer that, since domestic labour-saving appliances are obviously of universal interest, and in view of the increasing number of women going out to work to make an important contribution, therefore it may be expected that next Monday the Chancellor will give this matter first priority?
§ Mr. BarberI should get into terrible trouble if I answered that one.
