§ 39. Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many landlords received improvement grants in 1959; how many of them were owner-occupiers; and how many owned more than one house.
§ Sir K. JosephMy right hon. Friend is unable to provide the information asked for. Separate figures showing the numbers of improvement grants made to landlords and owner-occupiers respectively are not available before the beginning of this year.
§ Mr. AwberyIs the Minister aware that landlords' associations are writing to their members telling them of the things they can extract from the various Acts of Parliament passed, while owner-occupiers are unaware of them? Will he take steps to make known to owner-occupiers as well as to landlords all the benefits they can get from these Acts?
§ Sir K. JosephMy right hon. Friend takes every opportunity to make these facts known, and the dramatically increasing trend of improvement grants shows that the information is being heeded.
