§ 9. Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Minister of Labour if men who, through domestic hardship or other reason, have had their call-up delayed or have appealed against it, will now be exempt.
§ Mr. HareEnlistment notices were not issued to men on postponement on hardship grounds, or with applications or appeals pending; and no further enlistment notices will now be issued. But a man who has received an enlistment notice but has been allowed by his commanding officer to delay reporting must still report as arranged.
§ Mr. AllaunAm I right in assuming that with that exception no men at all are to receive call-up notices? If so, is the right hon. Gentleman aware that his Answer will be received with widespread satisfaction?
§ Mr. HareThe hon. Member is quite right. To put the matter simply, only men who have already had an enlistment notice issued to them will be called up. The rest will be all right.
